yes muscle growth requires stimulus not a calorie surplus! do make sure to eat enough protein on your cut to help with muscle protein synthesis AND sufficient carbs to fuel your workouts

progressive overload! it’s basically just increasing some aspect of each lift. that could be increasing the number of reps with the same intensity or increase the weight with the same intensity

in simple terms, when you hit the top of your desired rep range, increase the weight and work with the weight until you hit the top of your desired rep range again
