guys help what are some good leg exercises that don’t include a smith machine or any complex set up? im new to the gym and like the smith machine just scares tff outta me

Leg extensions, seated/lying leg curls, leg press, hack squat, leg press calf extensions, hip adductor/abductor machine, hip thrust machine if your gym has it, etc. Knee pain is hard to combat entirely because you are inherently going to be placing some strain on the knee. Just start with lighter loads and progress slowly in weight to avoid too much wear.

Also some RDLs which take a bit to get used to but just keep your head down and your good, goblet squat, lunges are also good

Do warmups that target knee mobility!
