A bit niche and a bit of a trauma dump: but I can’t shake the thought that I got my first full proper push-up the weekend my dad died and didn’t know it yet. How am I supposed to move on making progress in the gym knowing that? Kinda seems silly.

Sorry you went through that. I’ve lost a parent too and it’s traumatizing. Give yourself some time to grief (do what you need to do!), I find with those sorts of mental blocks you just kinda have to pick a day and do it? And do it another day. And just take it one day at a time and keep going until it becomes easier again

I lost a sibling and while I didn’t have a specific tie between that and exercising, it did make it a lot harder to exercise for a while. Weirdly it was a big reason why I switched from cardio to more weightlifting?? I just tried to exercise my body in a way that wasn’t a trigger. and one day (it rly is just one random day) you’ll decide to do pushups again. Grief is weird. I’m sorry for you loss
