I play rugby and I’m about 239 lbs rn. I’m tempted to lose weight so I can tone up and get faster for rugby purposes, but if I lose too much weight, I won’t be able to play my same position anymore and I’m scared that I won’t be good at other ones

I play rugby too and I think it’s just if you are losing weight you have to be weight training too, and I mean lifting heavy not just little weights to get toned and doing running drills isn’t a bad idea but it’s not preferred by most like myself but getting faster and more efficient is better for a forward because you can hit harder and quicker

I play rugby too! I play wing so my advice may not be the best- but I feel as long as you’re lifting heavy + consistent and gaining muscle as you lose weight it should be alright. So get jacked (and toned ofc), be THE STRONGEST on the pitch and you’ll be able to hold the whole scrum by yourself. I believe in you

i would recommend not focusing on the scale, and instead focusing on muscle gain, if you eat well and lift, you will gain muscle while also losing fat, so you can be toned and not lose too much weight

I think that will be beneficial to you, especially with balance and stuff
