I feel like most gym apps target men, so I’m making one for us! What do you wish existed or what do you wish were better/cheaper about the ones that are already out there?

id love to see an app that shows exercises for *women,* there’s a lot of bodybuilding exercises for men that say like “do x pushups!!” but the exercise forms aren’t catered to the female body so they hurt

I meant apps that target things like bodybuilding, obviously not exclusively men but probably majority. Trying to build a gym app that won’t be mostly men

I guess I’m still confused on what you mean, what kind of apps? like things to track your progress and macros? or something like this where you can post your progress and build a community kind of thing?

Either! What would you be interested in?

I have a few ideas! I think there’s a lot you could do with tracking macros. I think it would be cool for you to be able to say what your goals are and the app can figure out what your macro split should be and suggest meals that fit within those macros. maybe automatic adjustments to macros based on progress and goals. like you log your weight, steps, sleep, workout progress everyday and based on that the app can determine any changes needed to your macros

^ and like energy levels and fatigue. that may be kinda tricky without progress photos too tho idk

a lot of apps have like exercises you can choose from but then you still have to put them all together so maybe have groups of exercises for different things. like have a push day workout that has good exercises with target rep ranges and in a good order

then people can build splits a lot easier (maybe also have a split builder in the app where you can build it to follow and log workouts weekly)

maybe split builder will have stages of options and like the first is “how many days do you plan to work out” and they can input a number 1-7. then have them pick what days they want in their split (push, pull, lower, etc) and then build workouts for each day, you could show options like 5 or so exercises that target the same muscle and have them choose one of those based on preference and equipment available in their gym

and build splits and individual workouts like that

Can you elaborate? Obviously women can do push-ups too, what’s an example of something you’ve seen that hurts?

Thanks for the ideas! These are really cool. For the groups of exercises idea: is your point that it would be nice to select “glute exercises” and get a few at once rather than manually selecting one at a time?

yes! like basically a whole glute day. because I feel like it’s sometimes hard for people to know how many exercises they need, what to specifically do to target all parts of the muscle, what order to do them in, etc. so basically prebuilt workouts instead of (or in addition to) just an exercise library. I think it would help a lot of people that are new to the gym and scared because they don’t know what to do and don’t want to look silly
