You can totally be alternative and take inspiration from typical trad goth fashion (or any other subculture) but goth itself is a movement very centered on the music and leftist politics. As someone who used to not enjoy goth music much but recently got into it, I can understand that it’s not for everyone! You shouldn’t be judged for not liking the music, but you might get side-eyed for claiming the goth title.
