Ugh I cold emailed 15 professors last semester and only like 2 answered and said they were full. What’s your advice? I don’t want to do research I’m not interested in

I got very lucky. So I talked with my professor and I’m in a decently small department. In a meeting with my professor, she asked me what my interests are, why I chose my major, etc. she then gave me a list of about five different professors and their research. I emailed them and was like “hey, I’m a first year undergrade, I talked with Dr Xxx and she said I should look into your research. Do you have any spots available for undergrads?” But in more professional terms

First professor was full but had two of his four undergrads graduating at the end of the year so said to email back next fall quarter and the second invited me to meet with her and sit in on a group discussion for her research team I think I just got very lucky

Oh also, if I don’t get a response, I tend to do a followup a week-10 days later. It may have gotten lost. Or maybe it’s just not the right time and you can try emailing next quarter/semester
