I definitely feel like they don’t want to approach out of respect. Like they for some reason have a preconceived notion that someone with a hijab doesn’t want to be approached by the opposite gender

At the risk of sounding like I'm virtue signaling, I just see it as humans talking to humans. If I'm interested in them, I'll approach. If they're not, then I back off, but maybe I'll make a friend or enjoy a nice conversation. I feel it's no different than talking to anyone else. There should be cultural sensitivity in conversation no matter what culture they are from. It's more obvious for people in hijabs, but I'm trying to get better at thinking before speaking with everyone
