I’m so sick of men thinking that they’re exempt from being misogynistic bc they’re gay 😭

I’ve seen gay men dehumanize women to the EXTREME simply because they aren’t attracted to us. There’s a lot of ‘pick-me’ gays that want to act like Regina George and they get a pass by the patriarchy because they’re still men being mean to women 🫩

A lot of progressive spaces tolerate gay men making very dehumanizing comments about women’s bodies that would call out straight men for the same behavior. Plus the Peter Thiel of it all–there’s a surprising number of white, masculine-presenting gay men who are very much a part of architecting conservative policies and are VERY open about how they genuinely don’t believe women should have rights

Some gay men think because they’re not attracted to men they’re fine. But they still don’t see women as PEOPLE they don’t even see the use for them because they don’t want sex from them

YUPPP they think they can say genuinely the most disgusting things about women and that it’s fine bc they don’t want to fuck us. at the end of the day they’re still men and they still don’t respect women

Exactly!!! And it’s so normalized just because they’re technically discriminated against for being gay, but they should still be held accountable for their internalized misogyny because they benefit from being men, regardless of their sexuality. I’m sick of people infantilizing them like ‘oh that’s just his humor, he’s just a diva’ when he’s literally saying such horrible things that would get a straight man burned at the stake 💀

On the other hand, I also see a lot of straight women weaponizing homophobia. Calling your ex ‘gay’ or ‘an evil twink’ is using the tools of patriarchy to land a blow, but it also reinforces those cultural norms that the worst thing a man can be is feminine.

Drag isn’t misogynistic. The things listed in that post aren’t misogynistic. The misogyny is the dehumanization of women in general.
