labels and identities are tools meant to help frame mutual experiences. having a lot of “boxes” is wonderful for the people who never fit in the few they had

and sure, sometimes it can be harmful when people limit themselves or make mistakes. but that’s just another reason why these frameworks are necessary, since they eventually realize those labels aren’t right for them, or that their experience is more nuanced. recognizing & naming diverse experiences isnt a bad thing
