ok i always felt like the reactions to what timothee said about ballet and opera was soo blown out of proportion. he literally just said they are dying arts, which they are?? their attendance has been plummeting these past decades, tickets so expensive

not only did he say they were dying, he said that “nobody cares” abt them, and his overall tone was very dismissive of the value of these art forms. also it rubbed a lot of ppl the wrong way in considering that both of these are extremely women dominated areas of the industry

well they are dying lowkey, yeah saying nobody cares was distasteful but it’s just essentially saying they’re not attracting a lot of ppl. and the last part just seems like an emotional response imo

what’s wrong with an emotional response? and half the backlash from it was ppl saying like “no actually i care abt this art form”. it also comes across particularly out of touch of him bc of the amount of arts related grants that were suddenly revoked by the trump admin, which is how many projects get funded
