people will upvote this but the second you suggest eating less animal products you’re going too far
Hey if we shame people for using AI because of the waste of water and resources we should also shame people who take advantage of fast fashion for the same reasons :/

Hey I’m OP, totally agree to a certain extent. I’d even go as far to say all food. Cheap meat from animals in terrible conditions and rice/beans/coffee from all over the world that take advantage of slave labor. Not to mention just the quality of foods we eat bc it’s the only thing we can afford. I’m a huge proponent of shopping small and shopping local, especially for food.

went veggie for the planet (i couldn’t do vegan because i have a soy and wheat allergy) and it’s literally so easy. you can get plenty of protein and eat delicious foods without eating meat and my skin is so much clearer

you’re part of the problem i’m talking about. animal agriculture is the biggest use of land, water, and resources we have and it only provides 18% of our food. yet when i bring it up in a discussion about trying not to waste you instantly bring up peta to try and “get me” and compare me to them

Strawman argument. You didn’t even address what I said. I did not say eating isn’t a necessity, I didn’t even say not to eat meat. I said to reduce. Millions of vegans and vegetarians around the world survive just fine without eating meat or animal products. You can too. Your actual argument is that animal products are a necessity which is factually wrong.

i mean imo the biggest issue is the bigger companies that have all that land to raise animals and still raise them in poor conditions but to be so fr id rather that land get used to feed me and everyone else than get an ai data center or a golf corse get put there but tbh i dont really care all that much about this issue ngl i just thought it would be funny to say peta core

It would take even more land and resources to give these animals “better conditions.” I’d rather we use that land responsibly to feed people, and have a lot of land left over for wildlife, clean energy, and HOUSING, then waste most of it on animal agriculture but that’s just me.

i dont think so? If the animals were in good condition then the products being produced would be also mostly good quality and you wouldn't need as much resources to create more products cause the margin of what's being put out is actually good quality. Like there are ways to put out animal products sustainably, and imo that argument that we need more resources for better conditions is just an excuse big corps put out to convince the general public that our consumption is the problem when -

in reality the real problem is that these companies are wasting product to put out low and medium quality products into the market

i honestly hate bitches that preach that we the consumers need to dilute our consumption in some way to better the planet when we all know damn well the real culprits of climate change getting this bad is the companies who keep looking for cheaper solutions to put out mediocre products and the government officials they bribe to keep the regulations shit so it doesn't touch them 🤷‍♀️

Yesssssss food don’t gotta look good to taste good frfr. Direct from local farmers, or farmers markets if they’re too far‼️ It’s up to us to sustain ourselves responsibly if we can frfr

Lmfao this is such a crazy take. The animal products you eat aren’t gonna magically have better quality and therefore require less space if we just treated the animals better. It uses LESS land to shove all the animals into one small pen, your argument is that we’d use less resources if we gave them more room? That they would be higher quality food and we’d need less if we gave them more water and more land? Girl you fr don’t even make sense.

Acting if you have no moral responsibility for how you spend your money, torturing animals so that you can have a yummy meal. Acting as if just because a corporation is the one doing the bad thing and doing the resource use that makes it OK for you to give them your money. Neither of us think corps are good, but your argument is that we don’t need to stop funding them? You’re genuinely a clown i can’t even. your argument makes no sense and a yt comment thread is not the place to fix delusions

Agreed! But let’s be clear that issue with animal products isn’t that they are “low quality” and if we treated them better they would be “better quality” and therefore we would need less land and resources to feed ourselves like Hooters claimed above. Basic biology tells us that animal agriculture is incredibly inefficient for calories. If people want to have their own small farms, go for it. But factory farms have to go, and that means ppl need to be comfortable eating less animal products.

girl u cant take my argument seriously cause u cant read for shit 😭😭😭 how are u gonna sit here and tell me its better to just shove chickens in a small pen cause it takes less resources?? You sound JUST like the same damn companies polluting the planet saying that and ur calling me stupid?? ✋😭 i'm saying that those big companies are the ones that are primarily at fault, if you want to buy less animal products go ahead but just saying "buy less" isnt going to make a difference if ur still buying

you’re a dumbass. i didn’t say we should shove them into small cages i said that the way we currently do it uses AS LITTLE resources as possible and treating the animals well while still meeting our current consumption demands will use EVEN MORE. so yes! please stop eating animal products at all. but i recognize you and most won’t do that, so something is better than nothing. every little bit helps.

Good for you! There will be vegans telling you that you aren’t good enough, continue not listening to them. You’re doing what you can with your dietary issues right now! May I suggest trying to make your own seitan? It is a delicious, protein packed, plant based meat without soy! Just don’t overdo it as it only has 8/9 amino acids you need

Ah! Apologies I didn’t know it was a gluten allergy specifically. Seitan is JUST the gluten so i figured maybe it would be fine. That’s definitely hard!
