hot take: as women we sometimes put too much emphasis on being chosen by a man. it’s not an achievement or a success to be “chosen” or be in a relationship. relationships should be a happy addition instead of your whole life and sense of worth

Agreed. Although it does sometimes feel like an achievement when a man chooses you if you’ve liked him for a long time etc, but generally yea best to focus on yourself and a good relationship will eventually come along

Girl…. it’s not an achievement regardless

Why? What’s so bad about being happy that you’re chosen? We all want to be wanted, and yes they’re an unhealthy level to it like codependency but overall why not?

it’s a beautiful thing, but it’s not an achievement. now if it’s an achievement to you, great but not what we should be teaching girls as a whole. because that’s suggesting the opposite is a failure, which leads to centering men and that’s how you get the pathetic posts you see in here.

True. I guess that word has a negative connotation. Seems like that idea is dying out with the older generations which is nice.

it can be an achievement to be in a happy fulfilling relationship. i think it’s overkill to say we can’t act like it’s any form of an achievement. centering men comes from years of conditioning and i agree that it’s not an achievement to have a man pick you but we simultaneously shouldn’t shame women out of being happy to be picked or in a relationship. i don’t think that’ll fix how much they center men.
