Question for my Depo Provera girlies- Did you experience a ghost period immediately after starting up on it again? I took a few months break after being on it for years, and just recently had my first shot back on it and have had pms ever since.

i recommend not being on it bc they’re in a class action lawsuit over it giving ppl brain tumors. i was on it and it eventually got rid of my period but i would randomly bleed and/or be moody for weeks on end

Yes, I had one when getting back on (I’m now on iud bc I had depo two years + I wanted long term). They had scheduling issues and had to move me out, and while I don’t have pms— my PMDD was awful + I had ghost periods and lots of spotting.

I’m worried, mostly because I started being sexually active the week before I got the shot. We were safe, but I worry that the shot wouldn’t have affected my cycle that quickly? But also I’ve always had irregular cycles🤷‍♀️

It definitely takes a readjustment period! I was only off for about a month or so after taking it over a YEAR and it still fucked me up until hormones stabilized.

5 years on depo? Have you and your healthcare provider discussed the bone risks of long term use?

No, but I also stopped going to that provider when I heard I had been on it too long. Now I have a new provider that watches better

honestly i liked being on it until the side effects started bothering me and i had to take myself off of it 😭
