Don’t respond. Out of sight out of mind, don’t give him the attention it’s not worth it.

You could tell him exactly that. How you don’t forgive him and just because he’s better doesn’t change anything. Apologizing doesn’t undo the pain he caused, and you don’t have to give him a whole spiel that’ll make him feel better for his abusive past
