Was it a ladybug or an Asian beetle? If it was in your house or another building, probably the second. So don’t feel too bad.

No clue 😭 I'm in a hotel and it was on the ceiling and I thought it was a bedbug, panicked for a solid 20 minutes, and then finally squished it

Probably an Asian beetle! (Ladybugs don’t usually go indoors + Asian beetles are INVASIVE and DO love the indoors.
