No I feel the same way kinda except I’m not expensive just really picky, like if you’re not going to put any thought into it/ what I might like just give me cash.

And I hate how this seen as being ungrateful. You don’t get to sit there and put zero intention or thought in a gift and then dictate how the recipient feels about it or what they do with said gift after. I’ll say thank you and do the whole dance bc that’s the socially acceptable thing to do but I know 9/10 I’m gonna donate the gift or give it away bc I can’t use it.

Exactly. Ans tbh the things I want aren’t like luxury items but I guess if’s more than ppl would be willing to spend on a gift but either way gift cards and money are so underrated. Ppl just don’t like to give those it bc they see it as low effort which is dumb.

And MOST clothes I’ve been given as a surprise either don’t fit (usually too small) or just isn’t my style

So many ppl don’t research the person they’re supposed to give gifts too. Atp it’s just easier to buy what you want bc ppl are careless

Yeah, that’s why I won’t say if I don’t like something, I don’t want to seem ungrateful. At the same time though what’s so wrong with saying “I appreciate the thought, but this isn’t something I would use/ wear”. Like why should I say thank you even if I don’t mean it?? It just seems so fake, but at the same time I’m too afraid to rock the boat so I just smile and say thanks
