First it was r*pe. Now it’s torture? Dude. What the hell is going on in the dark romance genre? Wasn’t it something like falling in love a criminal or arranged marriages to seemingly-but-not-really malicious men, or overprotective captors romances?

I feel like these type of stories have so much more potential as a horror than anything resembling romance (especially if it’s done in the POV of the victim and written in a way that doesn’t sexualize her pain or his abuse)
