People are saying Robert Irwin only won cause his dad is dead. If Steve was alive and Robert won, would he have won simply because his dad was the famous crocodile hunter?

I don’t think people give enough credit to him simply missing his dad. It must be hard having everyone talk about him constantly yet have had so little time with him.

Like his dad is dead and he talks about missing him, which is understandable! But people are deadass online “they set it up for him to keep talking about his dead dad so he’d win.”

Which is crazy. Of course he wishes his dad was around for something big in his life. I think talking about him is Robert’s way of feeling closeness in that moment.

I do think production may have exploited it at times. But Robert seemed to genuinely be longing for him.

I deadass could not imagine my father dying when I was so young and the only way I know him is through the word of mouth of my mother and sister and through a television screen. And the way that Steve seemed to be so genuinely good, I’d long for him too

Robert was just expressing himself. This all brought up a lot for him. I just hope he’s able to have something that’s just his. Not his dad’s legacy, not bindis footsteps, just his. I think that’s some of what people are misconstruing. He can often be made to just be his son and her brother.

Yeah I’m glad you brought that up cause that’s true. Like every time I see this dude online it’s always “you’re like your father. Your DEAD father. Just like him.” Or his sister or his mother. He can’t have A SINGLE THING. Hope he lives his life as Robert too, not just a son or a brother or a legacy of something tragic

I think people mean well. However, he is not an extension of his father. The need people have to always bring up his dad, is upsetting.
