I think for straight women in America, there is a lot of trauma behind their interactions with men; at least from my perspective. I’ve only met a few straight men who view women as people. I know they exist, but they are not as common due to our culture.

EXACTLY that’s part of why i have such an issue with it. the larger part of my problem w it is bc i think it’s rooted in rape culture and like gender essentialism and stuff like that. but yeah it’s a point of view that indicates (to me) a lack of trust in a partner and a need to deconstruct certain ideas abt gender

Yes! It’s so gender essentialist! There’s this inherent belief that men and women can’t control themselves or are incapable of having deep connections that aren’t romantic/sexual and I think it’s really shitty.

You don’t have to agree, people relationship shouldn’t be that much of an issue to you. Honestly if any guy married or not finest want to talk to you who cares. Married couples have many things other people wouldn’t get and even if it’s come off as toxic to you WHO CARES? Be glad it’s not you and move on.
