I get what you’re saying about fat people facing more intense stigma, that’s real. But skinny shaming is still body shaming too. People get mocked for being “too skinny,” assumed unhealthy, or told they need to eat more. It’s not exactly the same experience, but both are harmful in different ways.
just because you have only witnessed fat shaming to the extreme doesn’t mean skinny shaming doesn’t exist to that same extent. i grew up not able to gain hardly any weight. not skinny by choice. was constantly asked if i was anorexic or if i was trying to kill myself by starvation. got told if i was so concerned about losing weight to just cut off my legs. got shamed that it took into my teens to look like a “real girl” or that i wasn’t pretty or good enough. and ive seen friends get far worse
can we not just agree that talking abt other peoples bodies negatively will always be bad… yes skinny shaming and fat shaming are harmful in different ways BUT THEY ARE STILL HARMFUL TO THE PERSON! stop trying to play the oppression olympics just bc certain insults may or may not apply to you, they are all still insults ????
i agree with you that it is still body shaming, but fat shamming is so much more harmful at the end of the day. overweight people are assumed to be unhealthy as well when most of the time they are perfectly healthy so you can say all you want but it applies to fat shaming just the same. people become anorexic from the fear of being overweight because being over weight is perceived as disgusting.
I’ve been told ‘no one wants to fuck a twig’ someone spread a rumor I had bulimia, I was told I was built like a door and looked like a 12 yld boy, that I needed to gain a few or no one would want me, people asked if I was sick, people constantly find things to point out on my body that they think ‘shouldn’t be visible’, I’ve posted pictures of myself and accused of ‘making ED content’. So it exists, even if you haven’t experienced it
