ok heard i understand you but id like to point out that having a period is a significant part of being a (cis) woman (not ALL cis women get period, but you get what im saying). because menstruation can be so representative of girlhood, sisterhood, shared struggles etc. it makes sense that even after transitioning a trans woman may feel dysphoria and upset that thats an aspect of womanhood she cannot experience. so wearing pads and tampons might kind of help ease that dysphoria and help them -
- feel more connected to their gender identity. additionally i do understand your frustration with trans women getting upset at cis women for complaining about periods. that’s not fair at all! but again, like i said it’s very much representative of girlhood and sisterhood and it could be just a reflection of their dysphoria around not experiencing that aspect. so maybe they take it out on cis women (a poor reaction!) who complain because it’s a situation of “well at least you GET periods”.
menstruation dos not equal womanhood a significant portion of cis women do not get periods and many NB and trans men do. any logical person knows that. that’s trans women feigning period symptoms or wearing pads is so odd. it feels like they’re playing dress up with menstruation and the effect is that it diminishes the already existing lack of research and resources around periods for menstruating people by making a mockery of it
i already addressed that not every cis woman get periods. i’m trying to be level headed and present potential reasons that aren’t negative or odd. please point me to a reliable source that says that them wearing and carrying pads and tampons and “feigning period symptoms” diminishes research on periods. your response is making you seem transphobic af if you are refusing to even consider the potential harmless, dysphoria-centered reasons why trans women might do these things.
and i’m saying it’s not really harmless if they’re posting about it and diminishing the seriousness of menstruation for a lot of people who experience it. there’s a huge lack of research around endometriosis, PCOS, and ovarian and uterine cancers. menstruation is not an accessory. not to mention period poverty is a real thing. taking pads you don’t need when lots of people can’t afford them is weird asf. if trans women want to experience purchasing menstruation products, they could donate them
