Does anyone else get excited to show something to your parents and then they don’t really care and then you get upset and then they get mad at you for being upset? Like I’m sorry I wanted to share something with you I thought you’d like.

When my fiancé (now husband) and I called my parents to tell them we got engaged the response was effectively “oh okay cool” 🫩🫩 tbf I think they knew it was coming but a little reciprocated excitement would’ve been appreciated

My parents just ignore me and I keep trying to tell them then after like the fourth time I stop trying and get quiet then they get mad at me for being “angry” when I’m just upset and tired of always being ignored

No exactly you get it. We were between two episodes of a show and I wanted to show my family something I saw online and they yelled at me that we’re watching shows now and no one wants to see anything else. And I said I was upset but fine I won’t show you all anything anymore and they said good then we won’t have this problem anymore. And I’m not supposed to be upset and go silent the rest of the night???

It actually is though because they watched me go through it with so many terrible boyfriends 😭 it was wild because at least my mom is always interested in my life and accomplishments, so it really came out of left field. His parents more than made up for it at least, they invited their neighbors over and one of them made a cake 🥹
