hi, how does “hope this helps” come off as passive aggressive? i say it when i genuinely hope a piece of advice or tip or something does help the person. i’ve never meant it in a passive aggressive way. i don’t mean any disrespect or to belittle anyone and would deeply appreciate a response to help me understand this
Someone was like “we just need to get rid of phones in the club so people will stop recording for social media” and I was like “well in the early 2000’s they had digital cameras in the club” and they were like “I didn’t say they didn’t? I was there during those times.” And I was like HUH?!?
it depends on the context and how it’s used. if you type something like “you’re stupid and an idiot, hope this helps!” over someone asking for genuine advice that’s more passive aggressive than giving someone genuine advice and being like “i hope this helps!.” there’s just a difference between the connotation of the two.
