Ladies I have an appointment scheduled to get a paragard (copper) iud placed. Apparently I don’t know anyone who’s had an iud?? Pleaseeeee drop your experiences and lmk how long you were in pain after 😭 mama I’m scaredddd 🙏🙏🙏

I’ve gotten the procedure done twice! Initial placement and then replacement. To me, it felt like a very intense cramp and it did hurt a lot, but it’s very quick, like less than 2 minutes total. The first time they did it, tho they had to reposition my uterus which was NOT fun and it made it take a little longer. I was cramping and bleeding for a few days after when I first got it placed.

It hurts for one second after its first inserted but I didn’t experience much bleeding (I had to have a kylena IUD instead of copper tho bc I hormonal birth control to regulate my periods) when I got it removed I felt nothing

i dont have one but my roommates both got one, one had really bad cramps the day after, the other was in a pain for a week so it really just depends

If you can, I would ask if they can get you a medication to ease your anxiety for when you go. They gave me lorazepam and it helped! Call and ask if they can give you sedation and that’s probably what you’ll get. You can also ask for pain relief. My clinic unfortunately didn’t have the numbing cream bc it was a smaller clinic (I’m in Iowa) but yours might!
