this is the same mechanism that made women into a “property” in the first place. since there were no paternity tests in early settlements, men would get pissy about passing down their belongings to a woman’s children. they invented a mechanism of ownership (and shaming of women for having more than one partner) to ensure for themselves that men’s property went to men’s kids. polygamy ok for men. polygamy BAD for women 👎
