both are bad, but dealing with years witnessing the second option is much worse personally. there's no real escape and it just gets worse as the years go on but it's "for the kids"

As someone with legally married parents (divorce and all that is expensive and a lot) who hate each other it is actually the worst thing in the world, and it’s even worse when they bring you into it and you can’t hide or do anything because you all live together. And it’s just so sad to see both of them so miserable

i’ve dealt with the second option for my whole life (i’m almost 23) and i would so much rather my parents be divorced. my dad says he stays with my mom “for us kids” but has never once asked us how we feel about it. i always say if my brother wasn’t autistic, my parents would’ve been divorced by the time i was like 8-9ish. it’s absolute hell living in this house and not being able to afford to move out. i constantly have to hear my parents fight and they always involve me in their drama-
