Maybe this is a hot take but I do think getting more mad at the women you don't know than the man you do (& who should respect you) is just another sign of the choke hold the patriarchy has over all of us.

This! Because it shouldn’t be a “typical” for any gender to be a cheater. But we hold men to lower standard and give them more grace, while women are expected to be angels. If they don’t fit that molded, they’re treated more severely than the male counterpart. And we excuse it with “I had higher expectations” as if those expectations aren’t founded on misogyny

I suck at wording things (and ofc no hate towards OP), but it’s not “I’m disappointed because you’re the same gender as me,” it sounds more like “I’m disappointed because someone in my gender isn’t behaving the way we were taught to.”

yea um i don’t mean by saying “typical” that it’s okay or less wrong for men to be terrible. just less of a visceral shock. this is quite literally why i started with the clarification of “the man is in the wrong”, there’s only so many characters allowed in a post. but go off girl twist my words around wtv 🙃

I didn’t twist your words. I’m not saying you think it’s okay when men do it, I can understand what you meant about it being more shocking. But I was just pointing out that the reason it might feel more shocking is because of the expectations we place on women vs men.
