the longer i go into getting my education degree, the more im regretting it considering the average teacher salary is abysmal. i want to change majors but i can’t afford to be in college longer 😭

if it’s something you truly want to do then go for it, but tbh i would consider switching to a different major. you won’t really be able to afford anything on teacher salary

i wanted to get my masters or phd too, but the government is making it basically impossible ever since they signed into law the “One Big Beautiful Bill” in July (unless you’re rich ofc) 🥲

teaching truly seems like my passion, like i did substitute teaching (in my state you don’t need a degree just a certificate) and i absolutely loved it, but i also want to enjoy life. i just don’t want to switch majors, and hate my lifelong career. i also would have to be in college longer which would not be covered by my scholarships.

would you be interested in doing something teacher adjacent and maybe substitute teaching on the side? or a different career that interests you and substitute teaching on the side? i completely understand wanting to do something you’re passionate about but yeah enjoying life and not worrying about money or living paycheck to paycheck is important too
