I had one as a kid because I was in a horribly racist homophobic home environment and I carry the shame of it forever, people who joke and brag about having bigot phases in high school piss me offff

People grow. Sometimes they degenerate/decay. Sometimes they don’t know whether they are growing or decaying, but they def change/adapt to new environments. Like if you were to tell all the Chinese children/grown ups their racist phase against Philippines + Japanese is not normal they would look at you like you’re insane. There’s allegedly a billion Chinese people. Not many travel to Japan/Philippines so they just go off what other people/the CCP tells them.
