Hey, man. I hope you’re well. As a Christian, I’ve seen a lot of folks use the “I’m praying for you” line not as something genuine, but as a performative, passive-aggressive way of dismissing someone. A way to paint the other person as too dumb, wrong, or mentally ill to be worth engaging with. All while presenting themselves as righteous while doing it. It makes me sad that it’s becoming more of a ‘bless your heart’ by the day. :(

But idk, using it as a way to shut someone down or imply they’re beneath engagement just really feels antithetical to Christian values we got taught (like grace, humility, sincerity, etc.) that I spent a whole lotta time in Catholic school learning.
