the one person who was snarky didn’t even misconstrue what you said, they just said “that’s not true,” which makes this post all the more confusing. what gay man misconstrued your post? was it a DM? can you screenshot?

The person who said they were “correcting” me and acting like they were saying big new info by telling me that society is misogynistic in general. Like yes, I know that, but I’m talking about misogyny within the LGBTQ community and that’s why I specified

They acted like my argument was much more general than it actually was. I provided specific examples of what I was talking about and they acted like I just said “gay men are misogynistic” without saying why or how

it originally DID sound like you called out only gay men for something all men do—as if they were uniquely misogynistic in that. myself and many others read your post the same way they did before you clarified & gave better examples. that wasn’t a bad-faith reading, and it gave you the space to clarify for others who thought the same

your original example was extremely general, though. its use implied you believed gay men put down women much more commonly than straight men, since otherwise you wouldn’t bring up smth all men do. you later clarified that gay male misogyny is unique in how they justify it with their queerness, but the example you gave wasn’t specific

fyi not trying to argue! simply pointing out a common interpretation of your post and lyk how it’s read by other people. that community is generally very intolerant of misogyny, so this post really confused me 😭
