Hey, mothers out there! With the weather warming up, many of you will take your children to the pool, ocean, or lake. I’d quickly like to recommend that you ditch the puddle jumper for a backpack floaty and swim lessons. Here’s why⬇️

Love this! Guys also please remember no dark swimsuits, whether you’re going to the ocean or the pool we need to be able to see our babies!!

I was a swim instructor for 4 years and I swam for 2 separate swim teams until I graduated high school. I worked with ages starting at 9-months all the way up to adults. Many children I worked with had used puddle jumpers in the past which created a difficult and potentially dangerous situation when they started swim lessons with me.

Puddle jumpers hold children in a vertical position (AKA the drowning position). It gives the wearer a false sense of safety and familiarizes their muscle memory to that position. When it comes time for the kid to take off the puddle jumper, they will automatically assume a vertical position and may even struggle with kicking correctly. Many students of mine who previously wore puddle jumpers developed a “bicycle kick” which is inefficient and tiresome.

This summer, I strongly encourage you mothers to choose a backpack floaty and swim lessons. You can never be over prepared in case of an emergency. Have a happy and safe summer!💙
