Well I guess I’m about to be a wife next month. Big thanks to republicans for forcing my fiancé and I to have a secret rushed marriage 2 years ahead of our actual wedding so he isn’t paying $500/month on health insurance 🫩

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited at the idea of being married and he is too, but it’s hard to be happy with the circumstances

I got married this year and I looked at health insurance when open enrollment started and it still quoted us a really high amount, but then I finally got my name changed to his last name in the beginning of December and when I checked open enrollment after that and updated my name suddenly our tax credit went from $300 a month to $900 a month and idk if it’s from the name change but just letting u know if ur gonna change that name do it asap😭

some couples have ceremonies even if they did rushed into it first. I hope you can get the wedding of your dreams one day and I’m sorry about what happened :(

Yeah :( we’re going to do a little private celebration like a nice dinner or something, then I have 5 days I took off after for us to soak it in, so we’re trying to make the best of it. And at least it’s a solution to the premium issue, because $500/month is absurd. That’s almost half our rent

We’re definitely still going to have a wedding someday! We wanted to take our time with planning anyway, and on the bright side this will be one less paperwork thing to do and stress over then. Thank you 🫶🏼

That is so odd?? Luckily I already have a $0 premium through my work insurance so I’m not worried about that, but that’s really good to know if we ever need government insurance instead. So glad that worked out for you in the end!
