Just found out how many people on tik tok don’t take ibuprofen for headaches because they think it messes up ur liver. A) it didn’t metabolize in ur liver B) I’ve basically been given handfuls of the shit since I got my period at 11

It can affect your liver though. It can be especially dangerous when taken in conjunction with alcohol, or if you have another med that interacts with it. Also taking it in high doses. And it does indeed process through the liver so idk who told you otherwise

It can also cause stomach issues like ulcers so I just generally stay away from it, Tylenol is the only thing that helps my cramps anyway

Apologies I misspoke. ibuprofen is processed through the liver but is less likely to damage the liver than Tylenol. Ibuprofen is more likely to damage the kidneys and stomach if taken super frequently or on an empty stomach.

No worries! I just remember being told to stay away from all pain killers when I was on accutane bc of how much strain it puts on your liver so that sucked :,)

I was not told this when I went on accutane 😅 I needed to take more Advil while in sports season on accutane due to increased muscle break down and therefore muscle enzymes in my blood work

I would truly be in debilitating pain semi-frequently between cramps and chronic migraine if I wasn’t able to take these meds so it just confuses me when people don’t take them and suffer because of misinformation
