Humans are meant to create, we aren’t meant to constantly consume like we do nowadays. I don’t think people talk about it enough. People are too afraid to create anything because of the fear of being judged before we can even think abt ourselves

The rise of technology is gradually depleting our ability to create without the fear of judgement— people are so afraid of self expression that we’ve lost so much meaning in what it means to be human

id like to add that comparison is the thief of joy, and many are afraid to create anything in fear it’s not as good as others, or that it can’t be capitalized on and sold for profit. some people think that’s the only point in creating but there’s much more to it

It’s not just fear of judgment stunting creation, It’s hard to afford to create in this economy.

honestly this is a reason why i started make handmade rosaries. i’m not catholic but i live near a lot of them and so i make some and give them out for free. they look a lil janky but creating is so much fun and im really bad at a lot but the rosaries are helping me appreciate what i can do

I can see it as an issue with not having enough time due to work overload but people can definitely create even if they don’t have that much money, can you expand on this please? You don’t need much to make something of your own ykwim?

It’s a problem that a lot of people have nowadays and I struggle w this too, don’t tear yourself apart over it. Try to do small things you enjoy and find out your passions. You can also just not use social media and let your creative mind do its thing even when ur on ur phone. For example— I enjoy writing, creating collages, editing, digital art, and so much more. It can be anything that you enjoy! Although it’s very important to pick up outdoor hobbies as well, I love gardening

Oh this is such a good point and you worded this very well. It really isn’t talked about enough and I see it constantly esp on here. It’s very unfortunate that people have stopped doing the things they love because of constantly comparing themselves or feeling imperfect. With the rise of AI, I find myself feeling closer to “imperfection” because it feels authentic. It’s something that AI can never remake because it doesn’t carry the same emotion that humans do.

same! i love seeing things that were very clearly made by a human, imperfections and all. it’s the beauty in art i think, because we as humans are not perfect so how could our art be? AI is so devoid of any emotion and authenticity it doesn’t even feel like art! more people need to create simply for the love of the game, that’s how you improve over time

Most creative people find a niche they like and develop their skills in that area. Most niches cost money. Like, I’m not a drawer, I don’t enjoy drawing. I find joy in sculpting with ceramics and carpentry. Two things that require a lot of investment and perpetual money being spent on clay and wood. There are so many people that don’t have a affordable outlet for their specific interest: sewing, embroidery, painting, crocheting, needle felting, baking, knitting, gardening, etc, cost money.

Not everyone hobby can be creative writing or poetry. Photography, cooking, taxidermy, rock tumbling, scrapbooking, junk journaling, clothing customization, jewelry making, quilting, metal smithing, calligraphy, it all costs money. In Donald’s America if you don’t a cheap passion you might not be allowed to engage with it enough to have a true creative outlet.
