I am solo tripping to Hawaii and asked R/MauiVisitors abt recommendations or advice. Genuinely if the local hate it there just fucking leave. I never read more bullshit that hated their own home and had nothing good to say. Fucking assholes? Wow?

Even I can hype tf out of my small Midwestern corn town. Like yea here’s an amazing place to eat or REAL coffee. Cool spots to go hike. A little creek here. A good store bit other there. But wow… not even like a good place to fucking eat?? Seriously?? Idk guy fiery and Gordon Ramsey has great things to say but locals HATE the food. ?? ITS YOUR FOOD??? Or snorkeling is too hyped?? Idk NOT EVERYONE SEES IT EVERY DAY😤😤I’d like them to see a polar vortex… just once…

I fear in todays era the island as a stand alone nation would become someone’s territory regardless bc it’s not sustainable to rely on exports from the islands and then the cost to even get import is crazy. Gas and food is crazy. Rent is crazy. I get it. Tourism is literally the only thing generating a large enough cash flow to even survive today. I get wanting to be a reservation as well, but then you apply a new list of rules that American still hasn’t changed bc it’s now someone elses land
