“Ohh but hunting is for population control it’s not like poaching” I actually don’t care at all. There’s too many humans should I start popping them due to “population control”? Righttt.

idk at least where i live hunting is so important to keep deer population levels stable/make sure they’re not all starving to death in the winter bc there’s not enough food for them. plus at least with hunting they’re actually feeding families/not dying a slow painful death yknow

I dont know im too much of a Mother Earth worshiper to see how killing animals bc of population is okay but meanwhile our species is ruining everything bc our population and greed is out of control

i get where you’re coming from but i’d much rather see a deer be hunted and eaten than see it in pieces on the highway

overpopulation of animals typically hunted (like deer) actually really degrades the ecosystem. if we let the deer run rampant then trees and other crucial plant life wouldnt regenerate. humans hunt them because we have displaced their natural predators. also, in native communities and a lot of other rural communities, families rely on hunting for food.

so humans are part of the ecosystems on earth and that includes hunting so not sure what your point is?

If I was rich I’d make a sanctuary where all deer can live without needing to be hunted or ran over on highways and dirt roads

Idk why ppl keep saying deer like that’s the only thing ppl hunt for sport. There’s literally people doing it as trophies. I just don’t support hunting animals if it’s done for fun/sport and ur nuts if you are even okay w it. Those ppl do it for sport meanwhile the animals don’t even know they’re a part of that “game”.

i can’t speak for trophy hunting, because i don’t really agree with the spirit of that either

Killing animals you don’t need to kill is my point. We’ve clearly moved on from needing to hunt for survival

and factory farming of animals is somehow more humane than hunting? because that’s the alternative here

yeah but i’d see even more without hunting. it’s a sad way to go i think. at least with hunting (good hunters. not those lame ass trophy hunters) the body is being used for good and there’s a certain level of respect there

and population control is actually really important! if there are too many deer, there isn’t enough food to support them through the winter, and many will starve to death. hunting is an important part of keeping populations healthy

yk i wouldn’t say we’ve fully moved on from needing it. at least not everyone. lots of remote communities still rely on it and where i live we have a program for hunters to donate their kills to low income families that can’t afford to buy food

and that’s ok i completely understand where you’re coming from. i’m just from a heavily deer populated area where when the population is too high i can drive less than an hour and see 5 dead ones on the road. i get the same feeling of it as in nature documentaries when a predator targets a weak/sick prey. sad but knowing it can be necessary

It is where I live too but I just hate it idk. I’m sure there’s benefits but I have a sneaky feeling many of it is just human justification not even just deer just hunting in general

That’s exactly why people hunt though, mankind killed off or drove out many large predators that would naturally balance the prey animal population. Or because mankind screwed up and introduced invasive species like feral hogs. They are dangerous, destructive to farmland, out breed and outcompete native species, and have no natural predators here. Mankind was greedy and careless in messing up the ecosystem, so that is the current effort to correct it. Trophy hunting is gross though, I agree
