make sure you get a good piercing cleaning solution (i recommend neilmed personally)! piercing guns can heighten the risk of complications/infections if you’re deadset on going to claire’s 🙏

Happy that you’re going to be joining the piercing club! But just want to ask, is Claire’s the only piercing place in your area or could you find a piercing shop that will not use the guns?

Got double piercings in my ears with guns (tbf my first set was when I was 10 and my mom took me to the mall, can't blame me) and I got my second set at Claire's like a decade later. Mine personally ended up fine but I do think my piercings from Claire's did take longer to heal. I do think overall a piercing shop is better tho from the information I've heard

Claire’s is basically the only option because I go back to school soon, and won’t be able to book an appointment at a piercing shop and actually make it to the appointment bc I don’t have a car. I know that guns use blunt force to pierce your ears, but I think that if I pay extra attention to them and clean them I will be okay. I think

Did you get yours done at Claire’s? If so did they heal properly?

I just want to clarify not to be an ass but just to make sure everyone is aware of the risks! A lot of shops do walk ins but yes I understand the transportation issue!

i got them done at 13 so it was a long time ago. but they did get infected and were lopsided so i had to get them redone at an actual piercing studio when i was 15 because they were constantly oozing 💔

When I got my piercings, my piercer told me to NEVER twist the piercing around, you want to gently push and pull the earrings in and out. I used both saline solution AND dial antibacterial soap she recommended. And it’s controversial but when my piercing was more healed, she told me to try tea tree oil if it had bumps forming, so the oil could dry fluids out

I don’t think you’re being an ass. I actually appreciate any tips you might have. Do you have any more tips?

Oh no! I saw that they got a different type of piercing gun so maybe it’s sharper? Do you think it was just the piercer you got?

If you have a low pain tolerance, pop a Tylenol or two 30 minutes to an hour before you go in. It actually feels a lot better. And if you use makeup or hair products, just be careful around the piercings. That’s about it. Good luck! I hope you enjoy the bling you can wear now!

not sure, my bf got his done at claire’s this year (after i told him not to 🙃) and they also got infected so i’m even more against claire’s. however, there are plenty of people who have had no issues! just my personal opinion that you should definitely wait until you can go to a reputable piercer

I’m only glad you changed your mind cause the reason piercing guns have a bad rap actually relates to why you never twist your piercing when cleaning it. A piercing gun is pretty much blunt force trauma on the tissue than a clean cut from a needle being inserted. It crushes the tissue, which poses more risks! And don’t be scared! It’s not bad, just a pinch! I’m just a wuss when it comes to pain so I take Tylenol😭

Dw as someone who was really scared about getting my ears pierced again (mall kiosk also got infected) it hurt for the first 5 minutes like hell and I don’t think it hurt a lot the rest of the day

with a needle, it’s actually most likely going to hurt less than what it would be with a piercing gun!!!

I’ve had my ears pierced before so I have scar tissue, and I’ve heard it hurts more! I’m getting it pierced with a needle, but I asked the lady at the shop and she said the gun hurts less 🥲

That adds to the Claire’s statistic of not being that great due to the piercing guns 🥲 that’s good info to know tho!! I’m scared lol

It’s not bad and I’m someone who also had pierced ears (well one we repierced bc it was actually centered and the other one was slightly off) and it wasn’t too bad imo and I have a low pain tolerance

I had to get my industrial re-pierced after it closed up and had to puncture the scar tissue. It is honestly not bad, I swear!
