yeah i just think we gotta be careful with the first point because it’s easy to take that very true part about masculinity being seen as the default, and then like get mad at trans men or nonbinary people for using the term “birthing person” or stuff like that which is the kind of place i worry op is coming from

I’ll be honest that my feelings about this were reignited by Disney changing the Halloween costumes from cutesy skirts for ladies to trousers and button ups for all, just because they don’t want to give a gender neutral option for those who would like one. This is a common problem with brands though

i fear I do this😭 i call everyone dude, bro, and guy but if it makes you feel better i also call everyone girl too. what i say has nothing to do with your gender bc you’re going to get called all of it lol (tho i will say i do like to call homophobic guys king or girl bc they get so mad)

But it is gendered language even if you dont feel you use it that way. If someone asks you not to use them and then you say this it is insulting.

i never sad i would ignore someone’s request- but ive also never met someone who requested not to be called something (plus i usually only reserve it for people im close to). i’m saying as a default i say both to anyone. unless you’re providing me alternatives to what i can say that aren’t “hey person” pls let me know.
