Take it to a mechanic first if you have to give them $100 for them to show up regardless if you buy it or not i would do it I bought my first car couple months ago it’s was a 2003 Toyota Camry for $4700 and after my mechanic said it would be an extra $1800 to make the car safe to drive daily and I need to get a catalytic converter for next summer to pass inspection

not to sound like a toyota shill but if u can and u don’t need a ton of storage space get a prius. my dads 2010 prius is still going strong, still gets its advertised rate of 50 miles per gallon of gas (bc its a hybrid, tbh hybrids can drive really smoothly and u use less gas), and i think its quite reliable. so yeah it might be more pricey but i would recommend keeping an eye out for one if it’s in ur budget!
