Honestly that’s why I prefer to use playtex sport because their applicator is the “tightest” in my opinion, idk if that makes sense😭 otherwise I’ve always noticed that my inner “lips” are always a bit sore after my period and from long tampon usage. It shouldn’t necessarily hurt tho, esp going in/out (unless it’s dry ofc)
