If you did any research you can conclude that generative AI is extremely bad for the environment and plenty of impoverished communities have already had harmful impacts. Sorry that you don’t know how to use your brain or research without the help of a proven wrong generative AI engine like chat gpt

The day I learned how bad generative AI is I stopped using it. Completely. Have not ever felt a reason to use it. Regularly google searching can find better results

Grammarly is generative AI and people use it to rewrite for clarity. That’s a normal use I fear. I could use Grammarly over ChatGPT now that I think about it.

what takes resources is training the AI because of the power that GPUs require. what OP did had no more of an environmental impact than a google search. and given most people don’t care to actually change from the default search engine, i can almost guarantee that you use a chromium based search engine. and since google is a leading company in AI RnD, you are no better than the OP because you are giving to a company that promotes AI, same as them. use your brain maybe???

If I said I don’t support the use of Gen AI why would I use search engines that do. I’m not hypocritical. If google is ever used I make sure to add -ai after every search. She already said she should’ve used grammarly stop supporting chat gpt

it takes no more resources than that search on your search engine with “-ai” in it. congress.gov shows data centers, including those meant for AI, taking 4.4% of Americas annual electrical consumption usage (2023). and they don’t use water like people say they do, it works no different than a water cooled PC or a car’s radiator, it’s a closed system. be mad at your government for not regulating where these data centers are allowed to be, not at AI for… nothing? tiktok knowledge fr
