THIS!!!! Anyone at any point in time can become disabled. It’s a guarantee in life unless you die first. Ableism is abhorrent and the inaccessibility of the world needs addressed as a priority, not an afterthought.

the unfortunate reality is most people only love disabled animals from a distance, it’s rare to find someone who will put in the work to care for one instead of throwing it away to a shelter :( but I do think if we could at least get to that point with societal views of disabled people it would be a major improvement

I’m AuDHD and have some kind of chronic health condition (still figuring out what) and some days I can’t even get out of bed and I’m told “just get up and do it”. My body physically will not. Fuck off. Rest can be productive, too. I hate when people REFUSE to learn.

Also, not shitting on anyone who’s had to rehome a disabled pet because of its disability. I had a cat with chronic kidney issues and put close to $4,000 of care into him, but it just got to be too much for me to handle financially. He’s in much better care now, but I was devastated when I came to terms with my inability to care for him. I’m more so talking about people who just see it as a burden.
