I saw a video of a white woman telling her children if you’re ever in trouble look for a black woman. Do not look for me. I will not help. Sincerely a tired black woman.

Came from Black Chat and I’m sorry but you’re talking to a brick wall when you’re trying to speak about your experiences as a bw in the U.S. A lot of them do not care nor are they educated on the issues of both black history and black women in America. Look how most responded to the movie “The Help” which is the surface of the role many black women had to play in society. The mammy stereotype is in full effect and leaks in the weirdest ways in modern day society and expressing grievances about -

It’s so odd to me that people would even say this. I can’t believe it’s a real thing people say (not in the sense I don’t believe you, I do. But in the sense that it’s so inappropriate)

if you wouldn’t help innocent children because they’re white, you are the problem. hope this helps! the culture problem is on full display with this post.

I was always told the opposite because the people around me were so racist they thought that any poc would hurt me. Even as a small child I thought this was bs and would ignore them and just go up to any woman I saw if I was in danger because it’s stupid to teach your child they can only relay on one race to help them

You would be surprised. I even saw grown MEN say they grew up being taught this and still do it till this day. Shame.

I am not responsible for anyone else’s children. The real issue is why my choice not to assume a ‘mammy’ role is being scrutinized more than the fact that this expectation is still being taught in 2026.

and not everyone is aware of the “mammy” role stereotype. i agree it shouldn’t continue to be taught but i didn’t know what it was until this discussion.

American history has truly failed y’all. And this isn’t even directly at you but the fact that this post got boosted and half of the girls who commented clearly have zero historical context is pissing me the fuck off. I will never post anything about Black women in here ever again. But YOU I hope you have a good rest of your day. You learned something new today.

Genuinely as a white girl, thank you for being straight up like this instead of trying to be nice and sugar coat it. It shouldn’t have to be said in the first place. I’ve been noticing a lot of white people getting upset because black and brown people aren’t being nice about educating them when they shouldn’t have to be the ones educating us in the first place, that is our own responsibility.

It was met with the exact reaction I thought it would have. They’re not being dense or trying to find a middle ground on the situation “you should always help a child in need”, they just don’t care. This is why there will never be unity within the U.S. The lack of education in black history amongst those who enforce those stereotypes subconsciously(WHITE AND NON BLACK POC) and us. Their implicit biases will block any sort of progressive conversation 😭😭

SISTAAA! Thank you, you’re so right. I’ve truly learned my lesson with this community. Hyper-focusing on ONE part of what I said, ignoring the entire point, reposting it, blocking me, and then dragging it on is weird as fuck. That performative bullshit did it for me. And they are really good at acting dense as hell as a tactic to make you feel crazy. I gotta get my ass up outta here after this idk what I was thinking venting in Girl Talk 🤦🏾‍♀️

Yep! Every damn time. And it’s like the minute being a woman and the issues ,historical or not, that come with it are mentioned, it’s like it’s clicks…..IMMEDIATELY. The most disgusting shit I’ve ever witnessed which is why I don’t not discuss my position as a black woman at all with them 😀. Completely disingenuous and to keep myself from being hateful I keep it surface level!

It is also not anyone’s responsibility to take care of your child for you. It is your job to keep an eye on them and keep them safe

Please relay this to other white people. It’s truly sickening how much y’all (not you specifically) don’t know about black history. It’s blatant ignorance and we are tired of being nice about it especially since we’ve BEENNNN telling yall

It’s always struck me as an odd thing too. I’ve heard it all over the internet but it rubbed me the wrong way. Telling a kid to find a mom with kids makes sense, but specifying her race just felt like some not so micro aggressions were in play

Unfortunately with the current administration, it’s not going to get any better as they’re going to do their best to erase it more than ever :( Keep telling people -sincerely another white girl who learned something today🫶

That’s super weird? Like, I’d understand if she said go up to a woman in general maybe, but that seems so odd. Treating one group as a monolith and all. 🤦🏼‍♀️
