but if it wasn’t for the patriarchy, it wouldn’t be an expectation for women to shave their legs. that’s all anyone is saying. in a world where that didn’t exist you most likely would continue to shave if it bothered you. or maybe you wouldn’t! ik when i stopped shaving the feeling of the hair growing back was so uncomfortable. now tho i barely notice it bc it’s all grown out. as a whole though women DO shave bc of the patriarchy

I’ve tried growing it out to see if it would hurt less, and it doesn’t. I have autism, I have very high sensory needs, and my leg hair not being there is one of them. It’s not because of the patriarchy ffs.

yeah i agree with you. i’m saying in general the patriarchy is why women are pressured into shaving their legs. if you’re in physical pain, definitely keep shaving. but your personal situation doesn’t mean that the societal one is suddenly different

yeah i know? i feel like ive been really clear about understanding your personal situation. that doesnt mean that women in general aren’t pressured to shave bc of the patriarchy, which is what you brought up in your post. just because YOU PERSONALLY would shave regardless doesnt mean that’s true for every other woman out there. women are conditioned from the time they’re little girls to shave their bodies to be pretty/societally acceptable/etc

Buddy, that’s like literally off topic of this post. Did I make this post about every woman ever? No? Why are we talking about them then?

bc you brought up the patriarchy in your post? you literally started it off making it sound like women DONT shave bc of the patriarchy. again i completely understand you personally would shave regardless, but that’s not true for the vast majority of women

Buddy. Do I need to write it out better so you’ll understand? Ok. “While other women may shave their legs for reasons related to the patriarchy, I personally do so because of my sensory needs. This is not to say that no women do so because of the patriarchy, but that I personally do not.” Is that better? You need it spelled out like that so you’ll understand?

why are you being so mean? genuinely i feel like ive been really understanding and ive listened to your perspective and this entire time you’ve been so short and passive aggressive. so sorry i thought it was important to talk about how the patriarchy influences women when i thought you were saying otherwise

You’re good. I think misunderstandings are pretty common and understandable, and anonymity makes others more likely to be passive and uncaring sometimes. I’m also autistic, and I think neither of you are wrong on an outside perspective, though it could have been nicer. Don’t worry

I am a person who is incredibly bad at words. I apologize for not thinking more about my words. I didn’t mean to come across as unkind, that’s not a person I want to be, and I apologize.

It’s okay. Honestly, at the end of day, I think apologizes are a sign of caring, and that’s a great thing! The fact that both of you apologized makes the interaction more meaningful, in my opinion. You’re good
