I personally use guys to refer to all my friends regardless of gender but that’s just a me thing 🤷‍♀️

I guess context is a big thing if it means people in general or men

Why does everything have to become a disagreement? 😭 people have been using guys as a gender neutral term for yearssss. It’s so obvious that context matters when using that word

Lowkey I use both the term “guys” and “girl” as gender neutral terms depending on the context. Like “okayyy girl!” Or “girl wtf🤨.” And “hey guys!” Or “guys, what do you think about…” etc.

Its gender neutral, but thats a question about sex, not gender

It’s interesting that you’re agreeing that “guys” refers to men and women and others but seem to think that it simultaneously is exclusive to people with penises 🤔

I think you guys are overanalyzing language

Literally what is the problem with the way the word guys is used, I don’t understand

My friends do this too. But honestly it could also vary from area to area. Language is pretty fluid and even just in the US the amount of people and the vast size of the country can lead to differences in how people use certain words

All that aside I agree with the intent of the original post. Men’s egos tend to be large and fragile, and in my experience they consistently can’t take what they dish out

It’s going to happen anyway so you are wasting energy being upset about it

If any of my friends said some shit like “don’t use the term guys I find it uncomfortable” I would tear them a new asshole making fun of them for it

I actually treat my friend really great and support them through real issues. This is not a real issue, and I would make fun of them for it. I spend time with people I have a lot of respect for

It’s tough - I’m cool with folks using “guys” or “dude” with me all day, every day. 🤙 In fact, for me it’s an honor. XD But the reality is…for terms like ‘dude’ or ‘bro’…is that when folks say “hey, so this dude/bro walked in”, most are just going to picture a man. I think ‘guy’ being considered ‘neutral’ is a reflection of men being considered the default. So even if I’m cool with it, I also think folks trying out more genuinely gender neutral terms is also cool!
