Death is a consequence of sin. Even those who profess Christ still struggle with sins that they ask forgiveness for. Unfortunately death is a part of this life and so is illness. The only one who can be entirely unaffected by death is someone who's never sinned once in their life and humans are all sinners. Please just pray for his healing or that God's will be done. If you don't want to pray, you don't have to.
