in the south thats fr fighting words for black ppl. i remember going to the air force vs army game w my family and some old white guy got mad at my uncle, and he said smthn like “now you listen here boy”…long story short we were all escorted out of the stadium. they know exactly what they’re doing smh

It’s always “little lady” and “boy” or “girl” AND white women who never say girl except when talking to a poc/black woman

A lot of people do not understand that a lot of language is rooted in racism. Sure, in today’s context it might not be intentionally racist but it was at some point, and that context should not be forgotten.

absolutely, it’s engrained in everyday phrases, especially in more southern areas (similar to the comment below). Many people are also just unwilling to learn when called out which is just very dissapointing
