As a law student myself I have to say, Kim K not passing the California bar is not that crazy. Their pass rate is only 54% and that includes people who spent 3 years in law school. My state’s pass rate is closer to 80%. It is genuinely a hard test.

I don’t keep up with her as a person, but when people are shit talking her for this, I just keep thinking like “girl, you would fail too” And just for the record, to respond to the idea of her not being qualified because she didn’t go to law school, law schools are historically exclusive, classist, racist institutions and the very rare states which allow nontraditional paths into the legal profession should be appreciated not ridiculed.

Sure, in this instance, it helped a wealthy woman who likely could’ve attended law school. However, it also provides a path for poor, disenfranchised people to gain a career in the legal field through working under a licensed supervising attorney and submitting proof of their continuing legal education under said attorney while MAKING money rather than being subject to around 150,000 in debt while being limited in how much you can work.

I got lucky with my scholarship, but even my school makes me sign a contract saying that I won’t work at all during my first year. Many students choose to ignore that but they can be penalized for it.
